Ridge Monte Bello 2006 Bordeaux Red Blends Wine
USD 125.00 Complex mix of ripe mountain bramble, cassis, and currant fruits; dark chocolate, toasty oak, licorice, exotic spice. Full-bodied, with elegant chalky tannins, sensuous balance, integrated oak. Pure Monte Bello. Blend: 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc About Vintage: Winter was wet and cold through April, but May's warm weather let vines set a full crop. Summer was unusually warm; picking began on September 18, ahead of schedule. Though a cool October slowed ripening, all parcels were harvested within five weeks, and natural yeasts started primary within three days. Those first fermentations alerted us to how rapidly color and tannin were being extracted. We reduced pump-overs, and pressed at day ten. Uninoculated secondary began in tank; eighty percent of thirty-six lots were racked to barrel for completion. Thirteen were selected for first assemblage in late January. Four intense cabernet lots required egg-white fining to soften Wine & Spirits ra

Brazin Zinfandel Old Vine Monte Rosso Vineyard 2007 750ml
USD 29.99 2007 Brazin Monte Rosso Vineyard Zinfandel offers aromas of black pepper, blackberry, and dried spice followed by bold, blackberry jam and creamy vanilla flavors. This inky dark and full-bodied Zinfandel is rich and ripe with firm tannins. Serve with grilled flatbread topped with sausage, caramelized onions and manchego cheese or dark chocolate cake.VintageCalifornia experienced classic growing conditions in 2007. Warm days and cool nights allowed for slow and consistent ripening. A cool patch midway through the harvest season facilitated the concentration of flavors as the grapes had more hang time in the vineyards. In early September, the fruit was handpicked during cool night temperatures, and then gently de-stemmed at the winery before undergoing fermentation. After fermentation, the wine was pressed into small French oak casks where it aged for 16 months.VineyardsThe Monte Rosso vineyard is located on the southwest side of the Mayacamas mountain range, in Sonoma Valley, with vineyard elevations ranging from 700 to 1,240 feet. Due to its location on the mountain summit, Monte Rosso experiences a cooling influence from San Pablo Bay, and peeks above the morning fog line that hugs the valley floor. The soil is predominately red and iron rich from ancient volcanic activity. The range of plateaus and hillsides that make up Monte Rosso contain mostly loam, mineral-laden soil, which contributes to the rich, intense flavor found in the resulting wines.

After the destemming and soft pressing, maceration lasts 15 days in stainless steel tanks. During this phase, the alcoholic fermentation is completed at a temperature between 28A C (82A F) and 32A C (94A F). After the pressing and the maceration the wine will have completed the malolactic fermentation in barriques, made of ungarian oak, where is aged for 14 months, and then is aged in bottles for 6 months.

USD 42.89 ZONE OF ORIGIN: Valpolicella Classico, hilly district, tuff, clay and limestone soil with south-west facing slopes at 150-1300 m of altitude.HARVEST: From the end of September with qualified staff and carried in small boxes. It is then re-selected in the fruit warehouse for perfect drying.VINIFICATION: Depending on the vintage, it takes place from the end of January to the end of February with rotary crusher and partial stripping. Fermentation takes place in small containers, max 5000 litres. The temperature is raised to 10A C and then it stabilizes at around 15A C. Very long maceration, over 40 days with 2 weekly pumping over. After decanting twice, and when the wine is clear (May/June), it is poured into new wooden barriques with small capacity (20%) and in 4000 litre barrels for some years. Bottle fining for over 8 months.ALCOHOL: 15.10% by Volume.
