Duckhorn Three Palms Merlot 2006 Wine
USD 89.00
Three Palms Vineyard is legendary in world of California Merlot-and for good reason. A hot site with free-draining soils, Three Palms consistently delivers focused red fruit flavors balanced by an austere minerality, which contributes to elegant aging potential. 2006 Three Palms Vineyard Merlot delivers all vibrant fruit one would expect, with layers of red currant, raspberry and black cherry underscored by elements of piecrust, strawberry, caramel and wet stone. tannins are dry and elegant, leading to a long, jammy finish. 2006 growing season was marked by a very mild summer with a mid-July heat spike that accelerated ripening. Mild temperatures continued throughout fall allowing for a moderately paced harveSaint long growing season brought complex and intense flavor and aroma development. 75% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot Wine & Spirits rating: 91.

Havens Bourriquot 2003 Bordeaux Red Blend Wine
USD 29.99
In contrast to our other Right Bank reserve level wine, Bourriquot features more fine-grained tannins, becoming more elegant early in life than robust flavors of Carneros Merlot. 2003 continues this style, opening with lively tobacco flower and cherry aromas that explode in mouth. mid-palate is refined, moderately full and is followed by an expanding, long finish that offers firm, ripe cherries and adds a licorice note. It has firm tannins that support substantial fleshiness and should assure a good development in bottle for many years. Bourriquot is unique in California, a wine based on Cabernet Franc and Merlot that attempts to celebrate those grapes' native character, not cover it over. Havens' version of Bordeaux's famed Cheval Blanc, 2003 Bourriquot (a blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot), is not as strong as 2002, but possesses elegant, cedary spice box, tobacco, and smoky notes, and medium-bodied cherry and black currant flavors with hints of oak and spice in background. Trinoro Rosso Toscana 2006 Red Wine
USD 209.00
The Wine Advocate rating: 95. A blend of 40% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot. Tenuta di Trinoro is pretty high up at between 500 and 700 meters at sea level, facing west- south- west, protected from sea by Monte Amiata on very south east of Tuscany. In 1991 Andrea Franchetti had his inspiration in Bordeaux and indeed his high density, low training vines are more reminiscent of Saint Emilion and Pomerol than rest of Tuscany. very particular nature of his vineyard means that Andrea is still hand picking parcel by parcel, waiting for optimum ripeness, pushing harvest till November. proportions of various cepages can vary greatly from year to year and often bear little relation to he proportion of vines planted. Andrea makes wine by taste and not recipe. main varieties planted are Cabernet Farnc, Merlot , Cabertnet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Upon their debut, Andrea's wines instantly got role of cult wines, for small quantity of wines initially produ

Paradigm Merlot 2007 750ml
USD 35.40
This wine is from United States, California region, Napa County sub-region and Oakville appellation. Paradigm Winery, located in the Oakville appellation of Napa Valley, hand crafts small quantities of estate bottled red wine. Marilyn and Ren Harris founded Paradigm Vineyards in 1976. Both of the owner’s roots are entrenched in the Napa Valley - with Marilyn’s family dating back to 1890 (her grandparents actually came to Napa from Italy to grow grapes) and Ren’s family first immigrated to California in 1769. The renowned Heidi Peterson Barrett has been their winemaker since day one! Heidi’s father actually helped design their small but very functional winery. About thirty percent of the grape production at Paradigm is used by the winery and the balance is sold to other high end wineries including Groth, Nickel & Nickel and Duckhorn. The vineyard is now planted to 7 blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon totaling 37 acres, 3 blocks of Merlot totaling 12 acres, 4 acres of Cabernet Franc, 1 acre of Zinfandel and 1 acre of Petite Verdot. To give you an idea of the type of terroir in this area, nearby vineyards include Harlan, Martha's Vineyard, Dominus, an Opus Vineyard, and a Quintessa Vineyard. Throughout their ownership of Paradigm, Ren and Marilyn have been advocates for the Oakville appellation, environmental stewardship and they farm sustainably.. (90% Merlot/6% Cabernet Sauvignon/2% Cabernet Franc/2% Petit Verdot). Oak is used as an accent for the fruitcomponent.. Ripe black plum and red cherry aromas. Sweet dense ripe flavors flow across the mid-palate. Bright, pure flavor, a fat round middle with good length and intensity. MERLOT Wine California Still Wine

Pahlmeyer Proprietary Red 2007 750ml
USD 101.99
This wine is from United States, California region, Napa County sub-region and Napa Valley appellation. The 2006 Proprietary Red Wine, a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, has a deep ruby/purple color in a dense, full-bodied style, with plenty of creme de cassis, chocolate, espresso, and sweet toasty oak. The wine is seriously well-endowed, full, and rich. This is a beauty that should evolve for at least 20+ years. The charismatic Jayson Pahlmeyer and his exuberant winemaker, Erin Green, who apprenticed for Helen Turley for many years, are turning out some fabulous wines. I terribly underestimated their 2005 reds. However, there's always time to correct these things, and I intend to do it with the following notes.. There are 7,000 cases of the prodigious 2006 Proprietary Red Wine (a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec). Most of the fruit comes from the Stagecoach Vineyard and the Waters Ranch. Sweet, smoky, meaty aromas interwoven with melted asphalt, camphor, blackberry, cassis, and charcoal scents emerge from the complex aromatics. In the mouth, the wine is full-bodied, displaying sweet tannin, a concentrated mouthfeel, and a long, heady finish with substantial fruit, glycerin, and extract. It should drink beautifully for 20+ years. Things just seem to get better and better at Pahlmeyer, a long-standing, brilliant, remarkably consistent source for one of Napa's finest Merlots, Chardonnays, and Pinot Noirs. USD 109.00
Refined aromas of mulberry, hazelnut, leather, cedar, tobacco and sweet spices give way to deep rich flavors of blueberry, black plum, cassis, clove and chocolate. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot. One of guiding philosophies of our winery has always been timeless union of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and that's also where Discussion begins. In most vintages, you can develop additional complexity and nuance by adding other varietals. But there are those rare perfect vintages where other varietals have nothing to add to conversation, because it's all already there in Cabernet and Merlot. Wine Spectator rating: 93.

Frog's Leap Merlot 2009 750ml
USD 34.99
A part of our family since 1990, Merlot holds a special place in the heart of Frog’s Leap as the majority of the fruit comes from the Estate surrounding our winery and historic Red Barn. Situated in the eastern part of Rutherford this vineyard is perfectly suited for growing Merlot due to its rich, clay loam soils. We have found over the years that Merlot likes “cool feet” and a “warm body.” The clay soils hold more moisture keeping the root-zone cool, while the setting sun over the Mayacamas gives our vines an extra hour of evening sun. Sustainable and dry farming practices reveal the true personality of the varietal, which we describe as having red fruit flavors with a soft, supple texture. We believe that our Merlot is another great ambassador of the Frog’s Leap style - elegant, balanced and restrained.
