Decaffeinated Green Tea - Japan Sencha (1/2lb)
USD 12.95

Japanese Sencha is grown in the Zhejiang Province located in the West Lake Region of China. As the leading producer of tea, Zhejiang is well-known for producing teas such as Gunpowder, Mei Longjing, and green leaf-scented Jasmine. The base for all of these teas is a China Green "Sencha-style" leaf. You will note that this Japanese-style Sencha is tightly rolled into needle-shaped leaves. This traditional Japanese green tea is decaffeinated using a C02 process that does not detract from the tea's health benefits, the perfect balance of sweetness and astringency, and a clean finish. Like most Japanese tea, the flavor is reminiscent of seaweed, or a grassy flavor because of its vegetal notes. This loose-leaf tea should steep at 170 degrees for 1-2 minutes using 1 teaspoon of tea for every 6oz of water. From there, you may adjust the amounts of Japanese Sencha tea according to your taste.

Japan Genmaicha Tea 2 lb Bag
USD 27.50

Japanese Genmaicha green tea is an incredible example of the art of tea. Legend has it that sometime during the 1400s, a servant named Genmai leaned too far forward when serving hot tea to his Samurai warlord; the rice snack in Genmai's pocket fell into the samurai's tea. To their surprise, popping commenced upon the rice falling into the near boiling tea. Intrigued, the samurai tasted the tea and was overwhelmed with delight! He then named the tea after Genmai, and he requested that it be served every day thereafter. Harvested while still young, the tea leaves are then dried and mixed with puffs of roasted, hulled rice to give it the appearance of "popcorn tea." Each cup of Japanese Genmaicha is sweet with a delicious toasty finish. For smaller quantities of this tea, please click here.
