Japan Genmaicha Green Tea
USD 12.75

Japanese Genmaicha green tea is an incredible example of the art of tea. Legend has it that sometime during the 1400s, a servant named Genmai leaned too far forward when serving hot tea to his Samurai warlord; the rice snack in Genmai's pocket fell into the samurai's tea. To their surprise, popping commenced upon the rice falling into the near boiling tea. Intrigued, the samurai tasted the tea and was overwhelmed with delight! He then named the tea after Genmai, and he requested that it be served every day thereafter. Harvested while still young, the tea leaves are then dried and mixed with puffs of roasted, hulled rice to give it the appearance of "popcorn tea." Each cup of Japanese Genmaicha is sweet with a delicious toasty finish.

Organic Udon Noodles
USD 3.29

The Japanese are experts when it comes to noodles. It is quite certain that noodles originated in China and passed to Japan where they have been a favorite food for centuries. More noodles are probably eaten in Japan today than any other food except rice, and although Italian-style pastas are still the most popular in the West, Asian pastas are becoming very popular in the United States and Europe. Light and easy to digest, quick and simple to prepare, delicious and satisfying, Japanese egg-less noodles are a versatile food. They make a filling lunch, convenient snack, or, when served with one or two side dishes, a complete dinner. In many large Japanese cities a bowl of hot noodles is often served for breakfast. Quick to prepare, they provide the perfect solution when you have unexpected guests or find yourself at mealtime with "nothing in the works." Cooking Japanese Noodles: During the heat of summer, noodles are deliciously refreshing when served floating in a bowl of ice water and accompanied by a chilled dipping sauce. For warmth in the winter, noodles are commonly served in piping hot broth. Whether in soups or salads, sautéed with vegetables, deep-fried, baked, or topped with sauce, noodles are delicious. Quick to prepare, they provide the perfect solution when you have unexpected guests. In the time it takes for the water to boil and the noodles to cook, you can prepare a broth or sauce and a vegetable dish and voilà! In twenty minutes you can create a nutritious and satisfying meal.
